17c Grade II Conv

In 1997 Building Tectonics designed the alterations of this derelict 17 Century grade 2 listed building in Fenny Stratford to form it into 3 commercial units below and 3 flats over.

Having worked on listed buildings before, our general philosophy is to understand the existing structure and where possible work with it. This is very much the heart of the Tectonic philosophy.

In the case of the 59 Aylesbury Street, it had been built as a farmhouse, its tiber frame being organised in 3 bays. Creating 3 commercial units below and 3 flats over meant that very little had to be done to the tiber frame structure. This pleased the historic building officer and was an economic and safe solution to the refurbishment.

Building Tectonics project managed this to completion on time and on budget. The flats and commercial units remain very popular to this day and are always occupied.
